Nature’s Miracle Moisturisers
Dry skin? Damaged hair? Hands up who’s been there. It’s with you in mind that we formulate some of our most moisturising products, using Nature’s top thirst-quenching ingredients – for a little TLC in your everyday.
ALOE VERA
Hidden inside the spiny leaves of the aloe vera plant is one of Nature’s most versatile moisturisers: aloe vera juice. The benefits of aloe vera for hair, skin and scalp are many. It’s rich in vitamins, amino acids and fatty acids, and is an excellent humectant. With a gel-like, non-greasy texture, this much-loved ingredient is famed for its cooling and soothing properties and is said to be good for moisturising sensitive skin (always do a patch test, if you're prone to irritation).
We use organic Mexican aloe vera in our liquid Aloe Vera range. It’s certified by the FairTrade Sustainability Alliance (FairTSA), which supports producers and their communities.
Try our soothing Aloe Vera Body Wash – it's dermatologically tested on sensitive skin and now has eight times more aloe vera than our previous formula!
ARGAN OIL
One of the rarest oils in the world, argan oil comes from the kernels of the argan tree of Morocco. This cult ingredient is brimming with fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamin E content, making it a moisturising megastar for skin and hair. The known benefits of argan oil for hair include helping to reduce breakage and increase shine – no wonder it’s often dubbed ‘liquid gold’.
For our liquid Shea & Argan haircare range, we use wild-harvested, zero-waste, organic argan oil that supports women’s cooperatives in Morocco.
If it’s a moisturising shampoo you’re looking for, try our Shea & Argan Shampoo (and follow up with our Shea & Argan Conditioner).
COCONUT OIL
Coconuts need no introduction. The oil of these exotic fruits (or drupes if you’re on first name terms) is packed full of hydrating fatty acids that both skin and hair can’t get enough of. And nor can we: this hydration hero is one of our favourite ingredients. As if the benefits of coconut oil weren’t impressive enough, the tropical aroma of coconuts is said by fans to be reminiscent of sunny holidays on the beach… dreamy!
We use organic, refined coconut oil in our liquid Coconut products, which include our hydrating Coconut Shampoo & Conditioner and our uplifting Coconut Body Wash and Coconut Hand Wash.
Pamper parched skin (and take yourself to the tropics) with our hydrating Coconut Hand & Body Lotion.
JOJOBA OIL
"Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis); Pinto Basin" by Joshua Tree National Park is marked with Public Domain Mark 1.0.
This mega-moisturising liquid wax (pronounced ho-ho-ba’) comes from the seeds of the jojoba shrub, which is native to the Sonoran Desert. Jojoba oil’s benefits for hair include a high vitamin and mineral content and a similarity to the sebum produced by the scalp. Unlike other plant ingredients, which penetrate the hair shaft, jojoba is known to hydrate from the outside, locking in moisture from washing and smoothing strands.
We use cold-pressed, organic golden jojoba oil in our Jojoba haircare range. It’s zero-waste, with the by-product left over after extraction being used in agriculture.
If your hair’s crying out for hydration, reach for our smoothing Jojoba Shampoo and Jojoba Conditioner.
ROSEHIP OIL
Rosehips are the small fruits left behind on a rose bush after the flowers have faded – and rosehip oil comes from the seeds inside them. So, what are the benefits of rosehip oil? Lots of essential fatty acids, which are known to deeply hydrate skin and hair, plus a high contact of vitamins A, C and E (often grouped together and called ‘ACE’). Between them, these vitamins are known to help soothe, smooth and protect skin and scalp.
We use organic, wild-harvested and hand-picked rosehip oil in our liquid Wild Rose range. The oil is zero-waste, with the by-product left over after pressing being repurposed in agriculture.
Try our nourishing Wild Rose Shampoo and Conditioner. As well as multitasking rosehip oil, they contain rose centifolia oil, for a delightfully warm, floral aroma.
SEAWEED
Seaweed absorbs skin-loving nutrients including lipids, vitamins and minerals from the ocean it grows in. Like most of the ingredients on this list, it’s high in fatty acids, meaning it’s known to help nourish and hydrate both skin and hair, and polysaccharides, which help the skin retain moisture. Seaweed also has anti-inflammatory properties, with many fans reporting that it can help calm redness and may soothe the scalp.
We use organic egg wrack seaweed, grown off the north coast of Scotland, in our liquid products. It’s gathered responsibly by harvesters who are trained to deliver a high standard of environmental stewardship.
Experience the benefits of seaweed in your everyday with our restorative Seaweed & Citrus Hand Wash – complete with our expert blend of essential oils for a gentle citrus lift.
SHEA BUTTER
"Beautiful Shea nut tree" by Deishini Mariam is marked with CC0 1.0.
This nut butter comes from the kernels of the shea tree, which is native to West Africa. The benefits of shea butter for hair are world-renowned, with its high fatty acid and vitamin content making it especially popular with those who have very dry and / or curly locks. Shea butter’s nourishing properties mean it is famed for helping to deeply moisturising hair, leaving it feeling softer, stronger and shinier.
We use organic shea butter in our Shea & Argan Haircare Range. The nuts are hand-gathered and expertly processed by women’s cooperatives in Ghana, providing the women with income and helping local communities.
For day-to-day care for very dry and / or curly hair, try our Shea & Argan Shampoo and Shea & Argan Conditioner. Time for a deeper treatment? Let our Coconut & Shea Hydrating Hair Mask soak into your strands. If your skin needs a moisture hit, all our hand and body lotions are made with a shea butter base.
